Richard Robin

Rich isn’t your typical insurance guy. After graduating from Colby College, he lived in Israel, served in the Israeli Defense Forces and then worked in investment management. Rich joined NAS in 1994. While working full time, he earned an MBA from Loyola Marymount University. As CEO, Rich brings broad business expertise to NAS with a mission to develop and place innovative products that meet demand, make good business sense and are easily delivered.


David Lloyd

Dave joined NAS in October of 2010 to help manage and grow the reinsurance business, set strategic direction for NAS Online and oversee day-to-day operations. Prior to NAS, Dave was Senior Vice President at Venbrook where he ran retail and wholesale operations, client services and automation. Dave’s career began in software and web development, including e-learning programs for Fortune 500 companies and an IPO at an internet banking company. He holds a BA in Communication Studies from UCLA.


Michael Palotay

Michael Palotay has been at NAS since 2009, managing production and strategy for the NAS Underwriting Department. Michael is a key leader in product strategy, marketing, production management and underwriting for NAS. He joined NAS to develop a Technology & Cyber Liability product, offering what is now recognized as one of the broadest on the market. Michael began his insurance career at American International Group and focused on Technology Services and Security & Privacy product lines.


Jill Linhardt

Jill started at NAS in the Underwriting Department in 1994. Her years in underwriting give her a unique perspective on claims. Jill enjoys communicating with NAS insureds directly, putting them in touch with attorneys and vendors who can assist them in resolving their claims efficiently and without too much disruption to the operations of their daily business. She earned a B.A. from Columbia University and graduated from Loyola Law School.

Prior to NAS, Jeremy led digital product development and marketing programs for Charles Schwab, Toyota, Credit Suisse, HP and Sony.


Phil Rajewski

As the technology leader for NAS since 2003, Phil has been responsible for modernizing the company’s infrastructure and taking the office ‘paperless.‘ In addition, Phil has led the development and implementation of our business intelligence tools and guided our evolution to transacting business online. He is currently managing the development of the NAS Online platform, a state-of-the-art system allowing clients to quote and bind NAS products directly from their web browser.

The Technical Assistant aids their team of Underwriters with clerical and administrative support on a wide variety of tasks.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and maintain client and policy data in computer system and electronic file system within established guidelines

The Reinsurance Account Executive manages all aspects of our client relationship. This position will continuously partner with other leaders within the organization to ensure the client’s needs are met. This includes skills in underwriting and marketing as well as project management.

Claims Manager (Encino, CA)Apply

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Claims Manager analyzes coverage for complex claims submitted under the applicable policy form.  The duties of a Claims Manager include discussing claim facts and coverage issues with insureds, defense counsel and/or coverage counsel, and reinsured clients, particularly on more complex matters. Duties also include managing reinsurance programs; this entails training and supervising of claims examiners.  Claims Manager must possess critical thinking and strong oral/written communication skills.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes responsibility for training and supervising of Claim Examiners as needed
  • Performs file audits and employee performance reviews and makes recommendations
  • Reviewing submitted claims for coverage, and making a determination as to whether a matter is covered under the applicable policy.
  • Independently investigating complex claims and coverage issues.
  • Independently review examiners’ action plans, including coverage recommendations, and verify appropriate action is taken.
  • Establishing and revising claim reserves based on claim developments and counsel liability assessments.

  • Negotiating claims-handling protocols with reinsured clients and drafting the same based on agreed to terms.
  • Updating senior claims staff and the Reinsurance Team on program developments and reinsured client feedback; advising examiners of same, if appropriate.
  • Attending meetings with reinsured clients.

Claims Examiner (Encino, CA)Apply

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

NAS is currently looking for a dynamic Claims Examiner to handle liability and reinsurance claims. The position does not involve medical billing or health insurance. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, analytical, customer-service oriented and have excellent communication skills.  This position will be fast-paced, challenging and diverse with hands on instruction. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with other Claims Examiners in evaluating claims on various specialty insurance products, including cyber liability, and errors and omissions policies.
  • Make decisions about whether to approve or deny claims based on applicable coverage and facts gathered in the course of the coverage investigation.  
  • Work closely with company management and various internal staff, clients, clients’ attorneys, and other external customers to gather information and follow up.
  • Job duties include writing multi-page letters to clients and attorneys. Candidate must have the ability to write business letters as well as communicate in a professional manner.
  • Job functions include analyzing information, formulating conclusions and making sound decisions.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Senior Underwriter (Professional Lines)Apply

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The ideal candidate for this position is one that has experience underwriting professional insurance lines - Professional Liability and/or Cyber Liability are preferable, but candidate’s experience in Management Liability, Employment Practices, or Medical Malpractice will be seriously considered.  Experience transacting surplus lines business with various insurance brokers in a fast paced production environment is also ideal.  This position has clear and distinct accountability for business results, and will be responsible for marketing Company products and services and developing and maintaining significant agency or broker relationships. This position will also have management responsibilities, and will be involved in developing entry level underwriting employees into proficient underwriters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work independently to process new and renewal business submissions
  • Analyze risk to determine terms and conditions of coverage
  • Develop underwriting arguments to explain underwriting decisions
